LID day

March 8, 2006 it is a date that will always be in my mind as our LID (log in date). Meaning China officially logged in our dossier/paperwork to adopt. Thought I would jot down how I felt through the years:
  • 2006 YEAH! We got news from our adoption agency that March 8, 2006 was our official log in date and we felt great that all those stacks and stacks of paperwork were finally logged into China. We felt such happiness that we were on our way to creating our family. YEAH one step close to baby Laney!
  • 2007 BUMMER! Wow that 6 month wait from our LID date to seeing our child's face we were told about has now turned into 12 months.
  • 2008 NO FREAKING WAY! tears and tears and lots more tears. That 6 month wait is now 24 months!
  • 2009 ALMOST EXCITED! Yes, we did hit the 36 month wait point. Wow from 6 months to 36 months.................crazy. The good news....we are so close to "our turn". Thankfully 3 1/2 weeks later on April 3, 2009 we got the call we had dreamt of for so many years.
  • 2010 WOW! This is the 1st March 8th in 5 years that I feel pure and utter joy with such a sense of calm. Laney is finally home. Our daughter is the love of our lives. All those tough days as we waited and waited for her we can now say it was all meant to be. She is the one, the one who was meant for us, the one who was meant to be our daughter.
  • SO FINALLY WE CAN SAY HAPPY LID DAY TO US! And for anyone still waiting as you read this...adoption is a tough road of waiting. A roller coaster ride of emotions (and not a fun amusement park ride either) but wow when you finally meet your child WOW I am speechless at the joy and calm you feel. Hang in there.

Its is hard to believe all the waiting and now we are celebrating and the wait really is beginning to fade away, and it is Sydney's birthday which makes this day extra special.
