Music to my ears and a frequent conversation in our house.  Something I want to remember as the years fly by.

A July picture favorite

fireworks

We saw 2 sets of Fireworks in July and Laney was not a huge fan either time.  "Up me Momma", "Hold me tight Momma" (not that I mind either of those one bit) but she also said "works off please", "all done works" and "no more works".  Of course when they ended she asked for more?  Laney is not a big fan of noise.  Not even the vacuum, hairdryer or doorbell so no surprise she was not a fan of the works as she calls them.  Well now she will be more prepared and we will see what next year brings.  She recently saw fireworks on TV and was very excited about them so who knows?

Daily ramblings Aug 2010

I wanted to jot down some daily rambling of Laney so we could read back on them years from now and hopefully giggle.
"tag back" (meaning the tag goes in the back on her underwear).
"Laney happy" (awesome she says this about how she is feeling - love it).
"excuse me Tiki" (oh yes Tiki is always in her way but hey at least she uses her manners when she means move it dog).
"sure I can" (if you ask her to do something like help clean up or go get something for you this is what she says - really cute).
"no thank you" (well the no word is not something we like to hear so we have asked her to use this instead and oh she uses it with a firm voice - oh to be 2 years old).
"no fine" (meaning no I am fine which is her response to things like its time for a nap - oh yes she can be fresh).
"unders on now" (than she quickly revises that to "unders on please" as we tell her now is not acceptable.  This is when she wants her crib diaper off after sleep time.  I often says to the dogs Maui come in the house now or Tiki stop eating Maui's food now, I gotta stop using that word).
"tastes good" (she loves to eat and knows what she likes)
"I no like it" (she loves to eat and knows what she does not like)
"Laney's turn please" (this is her way of saying OK give up that toy and let me at it)
"pee pee potty" (this is when we run to the bathroom)
"up me momma" (oh yes she still loves to be held by her momma)
"self please" (her way of saying she wants to do it herself like feed herself a soy yogurt or an Italian ice).

Mommas Pretty

One of Laney's new things that just makes my heart smile is when she looks at me & says"Mommas Pretty"  ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my sweet sweet girl!  Her Momma often has an S at the end so often I am called Mommas instead  of Momma (truly cute).

Unders

Well it has been 2 weeks since the potty party http://2bigkidsinlovebuildafamilytolove.blogspot.com/2010/08/potty-party-success.html
 and I am happy to say our little lady took to our potty training attempts this time.  I really think the potty party helped.  The 1st 5 days were not that easy on Momma (I was a bit stressed) but WE DID IT and have had such success.  She does about 9 pees a day on the potty and 1 poop a day on the potty (sorry was that TMI - to much information)?  Our challenge area with accidents is bathing suits.  She either is confused by the no underwear on or the bathing suit being wet with swimming or not wanting to stop one of her favorite activities?  But I guess a good point is that season will be over soon.  We still wear what we call "Crib Diapers" for nap time and nighttime.  When she gets up in the monring she says "diaper off, unders on".
I still stress a bit about the car.  We have a potty in the back of the car and actually stopped on the side of the highway when she said she had to go. We will pull off at an exit next time cause that was a bit scary on the highway.  I have what we call "car underwear" which are the pull ups if we have long car rides (which we have 2 long rides planned for next month 2 & 4 hour ones).  She is using the training underwear which is regular cotton underwear just thicker with some padding.  We also got some regular thin underwear with monkeys, ducks and frogs on them.  She calls them her "unders" and gets very excited to put them on.  She pulls them up and down herself it is so cute. She cannot climb onto the big potty (which has a little seat on top of it for her) yet herself so she says "pee pee (or poo poo) potty mama" and we run in together all excited.  She has a little free standing one her size also and the other day while we were vacuuming she came up to us holding it with pee pee in it LOL so obviously if we are occupied and she has to go she can.  While playing outside in the yard shes tells us and we run inside and go.  She says "hold in belly" while we run in.  Interesting how much longer errands take now!  We have visited many public bathrooms and it surely does take some getting used to.  The department store, the grocery store and many more - oh diapers did have some advantages didn't they. All in all it is really a cute stage these "unders" days.

60th anniversary fun

Some of the pictures are not such great quality but it does capture the life of the party.  This little lady loves to dance and have fun.  We had a wonderful time celebrating 60 years with family & friends!

cool off fun

I recently had a deadline and spent 2 days in the house trying to get an important project done and little miss Laney was a doll and so so so good so I decided it was time to have a cool off fun day for just us 2.  Laney and I packed up and spent some quality time cooling off by the water. Here are some pictures from that day.  August 04, 2010

potty party success

Yesterday was Laney's potty party and we are thrilled it was a huge success!  The day began with 12 pairs of big girl underwear and a new potty seat to go on top of the big potty all ready for her to unwrap.  Of course she was thrilled to have presents and was very excited unwrapping.  The morning started out with 2 accidents but the day ended with 7 pee pees and 1 poo poo on the potty and a very happy proud girl in her big girl underwear. We have had so many stops and starts with this potty training and I must admit training is not easy but our potty party was successful and that is something to smile about! Diapers are still for naps and nighttime and we have not ventured out in the car yet (I put a potty, wipes, extra underwear, etc in the car) but hmmmmmmm not sure should car time be diaper time too???  I am thinking no but will admit I am a bit nervous about the car and potty training??
