How I spent May 24th 2010

We had a great day! Family photo to start the day & than off to a children's museum. The 3 of us had so much fun. We left after 2 hours there & headed to do our 12 month post placement with our adoption social worker. It went wonderfully. Thrilled to have all post placement completed now! We then had a picnic lunch in a gorgeous park. Then we headed back to the children's museum for 2 additional hours. Such fun! We than ended with dinner at our favorite place & gave Laney a present we bought while in China. She held her "kiss piggy" so tight and would not put them down while she sipped her soup (2nd to last picture) so cute! What an amazing day and what an even more amazing year it has been!

Birthday party and cake # 3

On Sunday, May 16, 2010 we had birthday party # 3 for our little angel. What a good girl she was. Her cousins enjoyed all Laney's instruments and serenaded her with many happy birthday songs. It was so nice for family to watch the kids enjoy themselves. Mark & I made our 3rd (dairy free) guitar cake, it was so moist, YUM (we have 1 more to make so keep a look out). We again used the candle just like the one she had when we were in China! Great birthday party # 3 and soon we will have # 4 (the last one). Do you think she thinks life is just one big birthday party - LOL . I have so many pictures of her enjoying all her birthday presents so next month when the parties are over it will be present fun picture time!

1 Year ago (May 24th)

May 24th 2009 was the the day we first held our daughter in our arms! ( May 25th our adoption was finalized)

Although it will always be a special day for me in my heart, I feel like I have to be fully aware of the sadness our daughter may have had to endure on that day and the days that followed. She lost everything she knew. As an adoptive parent what I experienced as a joyous occasion could have been a confusing experience for our daughter. So today we will remember, we will be together as a family of 3 (no work for daddy today - yippee) and we will celebrate a little bit but we will keep it low key in honor of the special girl we love!

I will write details in her journal but what keeps running through my head right now is............Laney you are Mama's dream come true, I adore you. Life with you is truly magical. 1 year ago you changed my life. You grew in my heart for so long and to finally hold you in my arms rocked my world! Your daddy & I are so lucky to call you our daughter.

Our dog Tiki has allergies & today when Tiki sneezed Laney looked at Tiki & said in her 2 year old adorable voice "TIKI COVER". I guess the fact that Mama & Poppy are constantly trying to teach Laney to cover when she coughs & sneezes is now paying off & she thinks dogs should cover too! Oh the day in the life of being a Mom - LOVE IT!

Ready Set Go

One of Laney's new favorite things to say is "READY SET GO" it sounds pretty close to that too maybe more like........"Readeeeeeee Set GO"! 25 times a day and each time with just as much excitement as the 1st time.

Great Wall of China 1 year ago- WOW

How amazing to remember 1 year ago ago that we were on the Great Wall of China, One of the Seven Wonders of the World. Truly at a loss for words!
