2 year check up

Today was Laney's 2 year pediatrician check up and I expected tears like all the other times we had visits. But it was dry eyes all the way. Not a tear while she got her finger pricked for blood, not a tear while she got a shot in her arm. Wow I could get used to this. Then she sat still and quite playing with her doctors kit we brought with us while I talked to the doctor about my list of 12 questions I brought in. All in all a great visit. I updated the growth chart to the left - check it out and see how she has grown (our little 2 year old) wow!

Happy 2nd Birthday

Today (04-28-10) is Laney's 2nd birthday so I decided to post the pictures from her Spring/Easter photo shoot (04-07-10) these are the top 16 photos we choose. We have a ton of plans for this gals birthday that spread out over April & May so I better take a little blog break and get cracking.

I have to just touch briefly on the day itself. I will go more in depth in Laney's personal journal I am keeping but to briefly touch on the blog:

There is a women out there who had a hand in changing this mama's life. I carried this child in my heart for so long!! This women did me the honor of carrying our child in her belly. We will never know all her circumstances but what we do know is we are forever thankful. Laney was meant to be our daughter and we love her more than words can ever say. This is a happy joyous day in our house but I will no doubt take a moment to think about the women in China who may be having a difficult day today.

Laney goes to the dentist with Mama

What I thought was going to be a disaster turned out to be just the opposite. I had to bring Laney with me to a dental cleaning & I thought for sure there would be lots of crying as we saw at both her own 1st & 2nd dental appointments. Well that little angel sat in her stroller & just watched as I had my cleaning. Well watched & chatted a ton. This is what the dentist office sounded like..............."Mama K??? Mama K??? Yes Laney Mama is ok. Hi Mama, Hi Mama, Hi Mama? Hello Laney. Mama all done, Mama all done? Not yet Laney. Knuckles Mama Knuckles. I can't reach you for knuckles right now Laney, after ok after. Teeth Mama Teeth. Yes, Laney Mama is getting her teeth cleaned. Bib Mama bib. Yes, Laney Mama has a bib on". Mind you all while I have a lady's hands in my mouth - crack me up. She was so good we went & had a quick picnic after with soup & a cookie (with her new toothbrush & prize toy from the dentist office in tow). Laney would obviously much rather have Mama go to the dentist than herself - LOL.

Happy birthday cake for breakfast - NOT

When Laney woke up this morning (at 9:15 am) after her 1st birthday bash (where she had 6 wonderful little friends, their Mom's who all rock & some truly amazing musical fun by her awesome music teacher) we cuddled drank rice milk, read a book & than she said Mama & did her sign language for eat. So I said honey what would you like to eat for breakfast? With a big smile she said "happy birthday cake" priceless! p.s. I did not give it to her, we settled on a pancake instead. p.s.s photos of her birthday cake & her 1st birthday bash later this week (thanks to an awesome Poppy we have video & photos. Plus major clean up after the party - LOVE that man!!)

Yes we had an unusually hot day and our baby girl has curls (this is how I found her waking up from her nap)............hot, sweaty and curls in her hair!

11 months together

Wow time really does fly when your having fun! It was 11 months ago on the 24th our daughter was lovingly placed in our arms. Tomorrow 4/25 is the 1st of several birthday bashs for our almost 2 year old - WOW!

Dip aka Hummus

Any day you can ask Laney what she wants to eat and often she will say "dip". The funny thing is no matter what you give her to "dip" into the hummus she will not eat it. She just licks the hummus off of it (a cracker, a carrot, a pea pod). So we decided to just give her hummus with a spoon. She could not have been happier.

So excited! Her mouth open wide is saying "neigh" with such excitement as there are horses on her top (hand me downs rock - thank you).

Must hydrate (loves her rice milk) before play date at playground. Oh & Mama put this cute little shirt on me (thanks Eve) that we know is a bit to small but we had to at least wear it once!

2nd trip to the Dentist

Well Laney has been home almost 11 months now and today we took her to the dentist for the 2nd time. I must say she liked it no better than the 1st time. As soon as the hygienist put the mask on herself just to look in my peanuts mouth Laney screamed and it was downhill from there. All 10 teeth are in on the bottom. 8 are in on the top. Add the 1 that is coming in right now on the top and that leaves only 1 more to go to have her full 20. No cavities and they say she is brushing perfectly. A sticker, a bracelet and many tissue later we were out of there. When Mama and Poppy walked her out she said "CRY". ohhhhhhhhhh

Strawberry

Give Laney a fresh Strawberry and she will spit it out.

Give Laney a dried Strawberry and she will ask for more and eat about 15 of them. One of those things that makes me say hmmmm????

OH NO 2 YEAR MOLAR

We interrupt these cute happy photos to say.................. "OH NO 2 YEAR MOLAR" Yup it was almost 2 weeks ago I said hmmm she is acting so different. It has been almost 11 months of a happy girl with very little crying, very little being fresh but this last week and a half hmmmmm we have seen a very different girl. Than the drool started running out the side of her mouth, the nose started running and her fingers started going in her mouth. Open wide and yup the top right 2 year molar has started to pop through. (oh no does that mean 3 more 2 year molars *&%$#@)
